DC-DC converters are needed for the future development of high voltage direct current (HVDC) grids, as they allow to interconnect lines with different voltages and topologies. The dc-dc can increase grid controllability adding power flow control, regulation and/or fault blocking capability. dc modular multilevel converter (dc-MMC) is a non-isolated solution proposed HVDC systems same line topology. This paper proposes new dc-MMC control strategy, which allows topologies (e.g., rigid bipole connected symmetric monopole). presents in installations. Then, mathematical model variable transformation converter. A structure implemented Matlab/Simulink using an average arm simplified grids. results validate normal operation, capability post-fault scenario (degraded mode).
